🧡 RESN Overview

RESN started in 2018 with the aim of bridging the gap between metropolitan and rural/regional high school education. We’re a team of recent high school graduates working towards an Australia in which geography does not affect educational outcomes through the provision of high-quality, consistent support to regional/rural VCE and HSC students.

Since 2018, we have provided over 3,000 students in New South Wales and Victoria with our full suite of academic support services.

🗓️ RESN’s Program

From 2024, RESN’s program will centre around weekly virtual group tutoring sessions. By connecting a small group of like-minded students with a high-achieving recent graduate, the sessions aim to provide academic enrichment for students, while also giving you access to a mentor who was very recently in your position and can help guide you as you head towards post-school life.

More specifically, RESN’s program provides:

<aside> 📚 GROUP TUTORING

This is a weekly one-hour group tutoring session held over Zoom for one subject of your choice. You’ll be working with the same tutor and the same small group of students each week so that you can get to know each other and support each other over the course of the year.

These sessions aim to supplement and enhance your learning, rather than re-teaching the syllabus. Alongside the other students in your group, you’ll work with your tutor to identify areas of weakness, clarify content you’re finding challenging and learn assessment strategies so that you can become fully equipped to achieve your personal best. This means that as much as possible, we want the sessions to be directed by your questions; these can be as big as ‘I didn’t understand the circular functions topic/how to write an introduction’ or as small as ‘I couldn’t work out how to do the last step in question 4a from my textbook…’.

Through these sessions, we want to allow you to take charge of your learning.

These tutoring sessions will also be a great opportunity for you to push yourself further and extend your knowledge. Our tutors have all scored in the top 10% of the state in their subject so they’ll be able to give you tips and tricks, as well as help you apply your knowledge to more challenging questions throughout the year.

Our online platform allows you to submit questions for any subject you’re studying and have them answered by one of our tutors throughout the week. As well as questions or topics you’re struggling with, you can also send through pieces of work for feedback - whether this is one topic sentence or an entire essay.

As a RESN student, you’ll also have access to a range of non-academic enrichment opportunities throughout the year. Topics range from study skills to job applications to post-school pathways and scholarships. This may also include the opportunity to receive funding to attend University Open Days.

🔃 What we need from you

Becoming a RESN student means you get access to consistent, personalised, high-quality support - all for free. It also means that a certain level of commitment is expected from you. Just as our tutors are consistently volunteering their time and expertise to support you, it is expected that you consistently show up and make the most of their support.

This means:
